News: Dearne Valley College talks business

By

A Business Breakfast took place this month at Dearne Valley College (DVC) which offered information on training opportunities and support through the tough economic climate. Guest speakers included; Gavin Hine Partnership Manager from Business Link, Barry Stones and Edward Dodd from Business Crime Reduction Centre along with Ian Wilans from The Financial Services Authority who talked about how to manage money in difficult times. Neil Baxter from Bramall Construction and chair of the Work and Skills Board was invited to present the Training Quality Standard (TQS) plaque to College Principal, Sue Ransom. Dearne Valley College (DVC) achieved the accreditation which recognises the best organisations in the country for delivering training and development solutions to employers. The accreditation is the first college accreditation in South Yorkshire. Neil Baxter commented: "The quality of training delivered by the college is responsive and adaptable to our needs. The relationship we have built with the college and indeed the Business Training team is vital in keeping our employees and business ahead of the competition. I was delighted to present the TQS plaque as it is testament to the work that the college does." Kaye Williams, DVC Business Development Manager commented: "The Business Breakfast was an ideal opportunity for local employers to see what training is available to them and their employees. During difficult economic times there are still funding streams available for training which we would encourage businesses to take advantage of."
