News: Pioneering Rotherham building in line for environmental award

By

The Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre has been shortlisted in the inaugural Yorkshire Post Environmental Awards. The zero-carbon project is shortlisted in the built environment projects over £1m category, sponsored by accountants Grant Thornton. Mark Burke, a partner at Grant Thornton, told the paper: "The nominations on the short-list reflected the high quality and diversity of the excellent submissions received. "Each of the short-listed projects demonstrated excellence in the integration of environmental issues in their design and build. "Grant Thornton are very pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor the award and are looking forward to the presentation evening and being able to announce the winner." The centre offers office and workshop space for hi-tech advanced engineering, manufacturing and materials organisations. It has been designed to accommodate and support a range of manufacturing-related activities, from fledgling engineering and technology companies, University spin-offs and subsidiaries of established companies. The building is to be powered by Europe's largest capacity hydrogen mini-grid system and includes other features such as ground source heat pumps and grey water recapture systems.
