News: Regional minister launches "real help" guide for Yorkshire & Humber

By

Regional Minister Rosie Winterton today launched "Real Help Now" - a one-stop guide for people and businesses to all sources of Government help available during the economic downturn. The launch was backed by the Prime Minister, Local Government Minister John Healey and senior regional figures. Rosie Winteton aptly chose the region's Business Link Yorkshire offices in Barnsley to promote the new guide. "Real Help Now" is a comprehensive new website which signposts businesses, individuals and families facing the effects of the downturn to sources of help, advice and support. Rosie Winterton said: "Our region is facing its share of challenges and Business Link Yorkshire is playing a vital role in delivering "Real Help" now and responding swiftly to some of the economic issues facing businesses. High quality business support, directed to where it will have most impact to help businesses start, grow and succeed, is an essential weapon in our fight back to economic health. Helen West, Chief Executive of Business Link Yorkshire, said: "Even in these difficult times Yorkshire has extraordinary businesses with imagination and creativity who are adapting their products and services to find new and growing markets." Leader of Rotherham Council and Vice Chair of Local Government Yorkshire & Humber, Roger Stone, said all local authorities were working together to take action to help the region deal with the effects of the economic downturn, including signing an economic pledge to support their local businesses. "I very much welcome the publication of "Real Help Now" as it is vital that we support all efforts to help local communities in these tough times and promote access to the best possible information to help them."
