News: Rea talks real business

Rotherham businessman Chris Rea is set to speak at The Entrepreneur's Summit in London this week.



The Real Business magazine event brings together leading entrepreneurs to highlight how UK businesses can survive and reinvent themselves during the recession.

Rea is set to give a talk on turning his business upside-down and how he turned seal manufacturer, AESSEAL into an international success story.

He discussed pitching for business in a recession in an interview with Real Business and stressed the importance of long term planning. Chris told the magazine: "Long term strategy is vital. We started out selling to the coal and steel industry in South Yorkshire in 1981, which was declining from day one. We knew we had to diversify geographically and out of our industry base to survive."

Other speakers at the May 13 event include Edward Wray, co-founder & chairman, Betfair, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder, EasyGroup and Mark Dixon, CEO & founder, Regus Group plc.
