News: Martek named Yorkshire's best international business

Rotherham based Martek Marine has scooped the Best International Business award at Yorkshire 42 Under 42 Awards 2009.


Martek were also shortlisted in the Company Innovation section at the awards organised by the Yorkshire Business Insider magazine.

The awards ceremony was held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds and was attended by 180 people. The 42 under 42 awards are a showcase for recognising the top 42 high performing Yorkshire entrepreneurs, whose innovation and drive has led them to dramatic business success before the age of 42.

Martek's sales director Sean Power said: "To be short listed for two such prestigious awards was an honour but to then actually win one is fantastic and testament not only to the hard work of everyone at the company but also to the vision that has allowed us to dare to be different in what is a very conservative market."

Recent international deals have seen the company's emissions monitoring and safety products exported to Greece, Norway, Korea and Oman.
