News: Rotherham business leader to speak at RE:Inventing Business
Julie Kenny is the latest high profile speaker to sign up for the RE: Inventing Business summit next month.
Taking place for the third year, the focus this time is around support, and new ideas for business to survive and prosper even in the current ecomomic climate.
Sheffield born Julie went from being a 16-year-old legal executive to become the first woman president of Rotherham Chamber of Commerce. Julie is recognised regionally and nationally for her contributions to business and is now managing director of award winning Rotherham enterprise, Pyronix Limited, which she founded in 1986.
Based at Hellaby and manufacturing an extensive range of electronic security equipment for intruder alarms with a £15m turnover, Pyronix employs 180 people.
Julie, awarded a CBE in the 2002 New Year's honours list for her contribution to the region's business and industry, said: "As an owner of a business which, like many others regionally, nationally, and internationally, is fighting to overcome the effects of the global downturn, I think this is an ideal opportunity for people involved in business and the community to hear the views of others and to network with like-minded people.
"As a board member of Yorkshire Forward I will be giving an overview of the economy in Yorkshire and Humberside from the regional development agency's perspective, which I hope attendees will find interesting and helpful."
The summit also welcomes speakers including Kavita Oberoi, the health care entrepreneur who appeared on Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire. Joining her on the day will be British Bankers Association Chief Executive Angela Knight and Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, David Frost
