News: Innovation leads to succes for Merlin

Merlin Software Ltd picked up the Innovation In Business Award (sponsored by Sheffield Hallam University) at the Rotherham Business Awards 2009.

Based in Barnsley, Merlin is an electronic point of sale specialist and provides a computerised bar-code labelling system which can be used in any charity shop, helping them reclaim Gift Aid on the actual value of donated goods.

Owen Gleadall, Sales Director at Merlin Software Ltd, said: "Firstly I must say thank you to the team who converted my idea, conceived on a train journey to London, into a fully working system.

"The fact that this was the first of its kind in the charity sector and that it has been considered worthy of an award for innovation is a great tribute to them. We constantly try to produce innovative products and to receive this award in recognition of that is just fantastic!"
