News: College secures construction building

The college had been leasing the Adwick Building for nearly five years which caters for vocational curriculum areas for brickwork, plastering, art and design. At 13,065 square feet covering two floors it accommodates over 300 full-time and part-time students on an annual basis.
DVC were in the process of re-negotiating the lease for a further ten years when the opportunity came up to purchase it via an auction in London.
Martin Harrison, DVC Director of Finance and Resources said: "The process and responsibility of bidding for the building was exciting but at the same time nerve wracking. I knew what the limit was which had been authorised by our Governing Body and it was a relief when the final hammer fell.
"The purchase is an investment for the college for future generations and will mean that we don't have to pay the lease costs annually which will provide us with a saving each year."
