News: Laying the foundations of enterprise education in Rotherham

Rebecca Mollart, from Rotherham Ready said: "We have been working with Early Years and Local Authority staff for almost a year to develop this new resource to help them deliver enterprise education for young pupils in Rotherham.
"With their help we identified six enterprising skills that would benefit Early Years children from the list of 13 skills which we already work with in Rotherham primary schools.
"A group of Year 6 children from Catcliffe Primary School designed the characters with a local designer which illustrate the skills and so Izzy Initiative, Charlie Communicate, Chloe Creativity, Freddie Finance, Pippa Positive and Tim and Tom the Teamwork Twins were born.
"By instilling an enterprising approach into children from an early age we are switching them on to the personal skills they are developing and inspiring them to think about the world of work and achieving their own aspirations."
Rotherham Ready is also working with the Family Learning Team to develop plans which will involve parents supporting their child in their enterprise learning journey.
Schools from across the town have signed up to take part in this project and will be weaving enterprise learning into their Early Years settings by encouraging Rotherham's children to think about these skills every day.
Rotherham Ready involves all Rotherham schools and colleges and, uniquely, aims to engage all young people, aged four to 19, in developing enterprise skills.
