News: Beatson Clark invests £1m in Rotherham

By

Packaging News reports that Rotherham glass-maker is investing £1m in new container glass manufacturing equipment to give it greater control over the quality of its output.

The new K25 machine from Bottero Glass Technologies is being installed at Beatson Clark's Greasbrough Road facility and is expected to begin operations by the end of the month.

Beatson Clark marketing manager Dawn Pugh told the magazine: "We feel this significant investment will ensure our customers continuity of supply combined with the high quality, flexibility and design they have come to expect from us."

Production manager, Tim Swetnam said: "The new machine replaces the old model that came into service in 1996 and while the old machine is still performing to a high standard, the opportunity is being taken to install the latest model, which will give us a greater quality control than ever before."

The move follows the £2m investment last year in machinery and facilities to supply an extra 75 million units of clear glass containers to the industry.

Beatson Clark has also extend recycling facilities on site after winning a three-year tender to separate recycled waste from Rotherham Council.
