News: Dormer at cutting edge of tool reconditioning

By

Dormer Tools is seeing more and more customers at its reconditioning centre in Rotherham as companies turn to tool reconditioning to help beat the recession.

Dormer's facility on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham is the Sandvik Group's official regrind and reconditioning centre for the UK.

The centre can re-grind old tools for up to 70 per cent less cost than a new tool, while maintaining 100 per cent performance. On recoated tools, Dormer guarantees optimum performance and quality for up to three regrinds.

Nick Garner, managing director of Dormer Tools, is leading the project. He said: "This facility has always proved popular with our regular customers who come to us time after time with their tools. However, we have seen an increase in the number of new customers trying the service for the first time.

"There are only a handful of companies in the country to have an on-site centre, so we were keen to make it an important feature for our new facility at the AMP.

"All the work comes through our partners who are part of the Sandvik Group, but we have hundreds of end-users who benefit from the reconditioning.

"We advise our customers that up to three re-grinds achieve maximum optimal performance on the coating. But we have performed eight or nine regrinds on a tool and the customer continues to be happy with its performance."
