News: U-explore turning work experience into work inspiration

By

Rotherham education specialist, U-Explore has helped to create a new toolkit designed to help employers across the country "turn work experience into work inspiration."

In partnership with U-Explore, the newly launched Work Inspiration campaign developed the Work Inspiration Employer Toolkit, an interactive web tool loaded with inspiring content and resource to further support the commitment by businesses to turn work experience into work inspiration.

Work Inspiration is the national business-led campaign for employers across the UK to provide better quality and more inspiring work experience for young people. It is backed by Accenture, BT, Chime Communications, Marks & Spencer, McDonald's, National Grid, Royal Mail and Serco.

Based on three key insights, the campaign aims to improve 100,000 placements by September 2010. The toolkit will use media from the companies involved and a range of additional supporting resources to bring the insights to life. The toolkit will also enable businesses to monitor the impact of work inspiration on young people.

Chief Executive of U-Explore, Andy Pickles said: "The toolkit is a desktop resource which has been designed to enable an employer to offer young people a relevant, engaging and purposeful experience in the workplace, with the ability to record and track the impact of work inspiration on young people, this will enable us to monitor and constantly improve the online support for businesses."

Sir Stuart Rose, chairman of Business in the Community (BITC) and executive chairman of Marks & Spencer said: "Businesses of all sizes and types, public and private, are committing to make a change and review and improve the work experience they offer.

"We are inspiring young people about the world of work and highlighting the fact that there are many paths to success."

The toolkit will be launched on December 15.
