News: Boccard UK selects Rotherham

Boccard UK, a French company involved in the nuclear energy and construction industries has selected Rotherham as a site for their Northern Division.

They hope to bring around 180 new construction jobs to the town and the surrounding areas.

The Northern Division of Boccard UK has been established to bring forward opportunities within the company and to establish new business based on past customers and existing relationships within the construction industry.

Boccard is becoming known within the UK construction industry as a new force, the French parent company is investing heavily in the UK with sites in Manchester and Cardiff, plus the newest acquisition in Rotherham.

Since 1918 and through four generations, the construction of industrial piping systems has been Boccard's core business. The company has expanded its expertise in project management, automation, prefabrication, manufacturing and construction.

They have also moved into new markets such as nuclear power and now operate in over 20 countries. Clients include Areva, EDF, Gaz de France, Unilever, Total and Shell.

Boccard UK Ltd offers a wide range of maintenance services, from preventative and industrial maintenance to power plant decommissioning.

Services provided also include mechanical installation and construction, steelwork erection, and the provision of skilled labour and back up for other Boccard providers. Within the group are facilities for pipe work design, manufacture and installation as well as steelwork design, fabrication and erection.

Local agents, Burgess Commercial have completed the letting of industrial premises at Bradmarsh Court in Templeborough.

Andrew Nettleton, Business Investment Manager at Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO), Rotherham Council's regeneration arm, welcomed Boccard to Rotherham. He said: "We are pleased that French company Boccard UK, a world leader in their field, have chosen Rotherham for their latest UK base.

"Coupled with the recent announcement of Rolls Royce's Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Centre, on the Rotherham's Advanced Manufacturing Park, the addition of Boccard's expertise adds to the regions strength in the construction of nuclear and power generation facilities."
