News: Success for AESSEAL at MX Awards

By

Rotherham engineering firm, AESSEAL, has been recognised for their customer service at the prestigious Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2010.

Run by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the MX Awards are the UK's longest running business awards of its kind and were established 28 years ago to protect manufacturing and promote best practice.

Making the shortlist for six out of the 12 awards, AESSEAL picked up the PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for Customer Focus, an award they also won in 2006. In that year they also secured the overall award but just missed out this year to Leyland Trucks.

With their global headquarters at Templeborough, AESSEAL specialise in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems.

Business experts on the judging panel acknowledged that AESSEAL "sets the standards" for manufacturing companies in the UK when it comes to customer focus.

Richard Cook, production and personnel director at AESSEAL said: "Participating in MX is challenging and fun, and winning the PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for Customer Focus is a real honour and vindication of our efforts.

"We always enter awards with the same objective in mind; continuous improvement. As an organisation that pursues excellence at every level, benchmarking against other world-class organisations is a key element of our improvement strategy.

"The biggest benefit of entering is the feedback report and knowing that you are being judged against industry's best - those who have similar aspirations to reach worldclass performance levels."

Minister for Business and Enterprise, Mark Prisk, who attended the awards, said: "Manufacturing and engineering are vital to the economy.

"The UK is renowned for its high-value, advanced manufacturing products and solutions and we must ensure that companies, like those recognised by the MX Awards, are given the support they require to exploit their competitive advantage and thrive in an increasingly competitive world."
