News: Greenwoods open flagship Rotherham store

By

The latest outlet from menswear retailer, Greenwoods, will be a "flagship" store in Rotherham town centre.

Bradford-based Greenwoods, which currently has 85 shops nationwide, is returning to Rotherham after their High Street store closed seven years ago.

Opening this week, the menswear specialist will offer its full range of services from a new "flagship" store on College Street in the former Music Zone unit.

Neil Roberts, chief operating officer at Greenwoods, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Rotherham after over seven years of absence and hope that we will have a long and prosperous relationship with the city for many years to come. We have had great support from Rotherham Council and I am sure that we will continue to sustain the support in this joint investment in Rotherham."

Jason Denmark, retail operation director at Greenwoods added: "We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from our new landlord, and the Council's Rotherham Investment and Development Office.

"The foresight and enthusiasm they have all shared convinces me that Rotherham Town Centre is once again regaining its retail identity and will therefore provide Greenwoods Menswear and 1860 Hire a fantastic opportunity to be an instrumental part of its successful reincarnation."

The move into the store has been helped by an £8,000 grant from the Council's Town Centre Business Vitality Grant Scheme. The grant has enabled the creation of improved access to the unit's storage meaning Greenwoods can offer a wide range of stock and offer a unique service in terms of instant suit hire under its 1860 suit Hire brand.

Councillor Gerald Smith, Cabinet Member for Economic Prosperity and Town Centres at Rotherham Council , said: "It is great to see a national retailer like Greenwoods returning to the town centre and helping to expand the range of products and services on offer to shoppers.

"The Council and its partners are working hard to encourage retailers into the town centre through innovative initiatives like the Business Vitality Grant Scheme and it is nice to see that bearing fruit with the transformation of another store."
