News: Businesses get New York Stadium preview

By

Businesses from across Rotherham were given a sneak preview of the £20m New York Stadium at an exclusive event.

More than 100 members of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce attended the presentation evening at the Holiday Inn, in Rotherham, to find out more about the stadium's state-of-the-art facilities.

Construction work on the £20m, 12,000-seater New York Stadium is nearing completion on the site of the former Guest & Chrimes foundry close to the town centre with the iconic development already creating massive interest amongst supporters and businesses alike.

Andrew Denniff, Executive Director of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, said: "This is a unique opportunity for businesses across the region to be a part of an exciting new era. The new stadium and its facilities look superb and will present a wealth of opportunities.

"It will not only bring more people into Rotherham but it will provide a focal point for huge investment in town. The club should be applauded for making this development happen and it will act as a catalyst for enthusiasm and opportunity across the town."

Working with internationally renowned sports marketing agency, Empire Stadiums, the club has developed the 1925 Club to offer a new era in matchday experiences with world-class facilities, fabulous dining options and the best seats in the house.

Tony Stewart, chairman of Rotherham United and owner of Rotherham-based ASD Lighting, said: "The club now stands at the brink of a new era and we want local businesses to be part of our future successes. The New York Stadium facilities will offer exclusive experiences and opportunities for sponsors and supporters alike.

"When complete in time for 2012-13 season, our beautifully designed stadium will undoubtedly be a fabulous sporting venue. The New York Stadium will be an iconic emblem for the town, to be enjoyed and treasured by many future generations."

The stadium will feature exhibition and banqueting spaces for 400 corporate guests and 1925 Club membership is fully transferable and can be shared with clients or staff and also provides networking opportunities and priority booking for other 1925 events.

The club is also set to announce a multimillion pound deal with leading venue and event catering company, the Lindley Group that will create over 100 jobs at the New York Stadium.
