By

Microbiological Validation Services Ltd, has relocated from Rotherham to a new purpose built site close to Sheffield city centre.

The company provides a microbiology service to medical device manufacturers and NHS Sterile Service Departments and grew from premises in Maltby.

The new building at Cross Bedford Street is named Martin House after company director Martin Crowther, who oversaw the construction project. It was designed by Peter Noble of award winning Sheffield architectural design consultancy Coda Studios and will provide the perfect home for MVS as its current workforce of nine continues to expand.

Services provided by MVS include testing of finished medical devices for microbiological contamination, testing of clean room packing environments, validation of sterilisation processes, plus a number of other specialised tests, to assist clients to comply with the medical device directive.

Consultancy, advice and training is provided by microbiological experts at the very top of the industry, with a combined experience of over 50 years within this specific discipline and this will to be expanded by the addition of another expert microbiologist at the start of 2013.

Managing director Elise Crowther has been involved with the development of current legislation regarding the manufacture of sterile medical devices since its inception over 30 years ago and has specialist knowledge of sterilisation processes.

Laboratory director Kevin Gidney has over 25 years experience within the industry and has specialist knowledge of the manufacture of pharmaceutical products.

The company's business development has been successfully managed by operations director Emily Rodgers.

Elise Crowther, managing director at MVS, said: "Even though you hear constantly that these are tough times for trading in all areas, we remain extremely confident that our continued success demanded the move.

"Coda created us a new home that meets our needs perfectly and which will continue to provide the ideal base as our team expands throughout the next 12 months."
