News: Rotherham apprentice shows how IT’s done

By

A Rotherham student has secured herself a full-time position with IT company, Pinnula on completion of her apprenticeship.

Katie Wood is just finishing her NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship in IT at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology (RCAT) and has also been acting as technical support at the Rotherham-based IT company.

Katie has just been named as the Apprentice of the Month at her college as a reward for all her hard work.

Katie said: "I have always been interested in IT ever since turning on my first computer and my apprenticeship has got me into the industry. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone here and I am really pleased they have chosen to keep me as a full-time member of staff."

Christine Lant from Pinnula added: "Katie has become such an important member of our Support Team.

"She has learnt so much about our products and our development processes and she discusses problems and issues confidently with our customers.

"Her manner with both customers and staff is professional she is always ready with a smile – even when things get tough!"

Based at Templeborough, Pinnula provides complete IT business solutions, enabling businesses to function effectively. They are the authors and developers of Uniplan, a sophisticated yet easy to use modular ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

RCAT has recently completed a "50 in 50" campaign aimed at small to medium businesses to create 50 apprentice roles in 50 days.

The college actually helped to recruit 95 apprentices and on day 57 they confirmed that the 100th apprentice had been recruited within local businesses.
