News: Accurate Laser Cutting establishes Rotherham base

By

Accurate Laser Cutting has opened a new operation in Rotherham to service the local manufacturing industry.

Accurate Laser Cutting (SJS) Ltd is a new operation from the expanding Oldbury-based group who specialise in laser profiling and folding.

The company is aiming to establish a depot in every manufacturing centre in the UK and company director Stephen Rolfe explained the decision to locate in the Rotherham area: "Local job creation was a major factor in placing the new facility in Rotherham.

"In our view the skills are already here, as are the people who are keen to work hard and do a good job for our customers. To supplement this, we're mixing local skills with industry experience.

"As a Director and owner of the company I intend to implement all the good things I've seen in sub-contract shops over the last 15 years, whilst at the same time making sure we stop some of the "not so good" things that can affect our ability to supply cost effective laser cutting and bending."

Sarah Wilkinson from Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) welcomed the company's arrival in Rotherham: "It is good to see Accurate Laser Cutting have chosen to locate their business into the Rotherham area, and that they recognised the benefits of the area's experienced workforce.

"We were able to assist with some information around salary and recruitment options, and we're sure that Stephen and his company will thrive here in Rotherham."

RIDO's support has been delivered under the South Yorkshire Sector Growth Enhancement Programme which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Yorkshire & Humber ERDF Operational Programme (2007-2013). The project aims to support both inward investors and expanding indigenous businesses to accelerate private sector expansion and increase the competitiveness of the region's business base.

Im not sure where this company fits in the area. With a plethora of sub con laser job shops already well established the only result will be to drive down prices in an already fragile and highly price competetive market.... I suspect some one will lose out and lose jobs as a result.
