News: Plans for Waverley taking shape

By

John Dunshea of property experts, Atisreal has given an update on the plans for the development of the UK Coal site at Waverley in Rotherham. Details of the restoration, landscaping and maintenance have been approved and are likely to be complete by May 2009. These include the creation of lakes of around 50 acres to address surface water drainage. The park and ride proposals are progressing along with the Bus Rapid Transport system which aims to improve the quality and frequency of public transport between Sheffield and Rotherham. An outline planning application is expected this year for the mixed-use sustainable community which includes plans for 4,000 homes. The site also includes the Advanced Manufacturing Park which is gathering further momentum and a scheme to create a 600,000 sq ft government campus was announced at the end of last year.
