News: Corus learns from Flood experience

By

Rotherham based Corus Engineering Steels is developing new forms of flood defences after the damage to the Stocksbridge plant from last year's floods cost around £8m to fix. Also based partly on experience from the Netherlands, CES is is considering another use for the giant concrete blocks it is making at Roundwood in Rotherham as part of a major investment to improve scrap segregation for its Aldwarke plant. The blocks can be built into a wall and covered in plastic, acting as a flood defence and could be turned into a spin-off business as the blocks can be easily transported and put together.
