News: Rotherham recruitment specialist records growth across South Yorkshire

By

A Rotherham-based recruitment specialist, has witnessed a significant rise in recruitment opportunities across accountancy, financial services and sales sectors.

Elevation Recruitment, which is part of the Horbury Group, operates in six specialist sectors; Accountancy, Practice, Executives, Financial Services, Sales and Construction, covering South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Accountancy and financial services are the two sectors which have shown the largest rise in recruitment, with job vacancies up by a third.

Matt Linley, managing director at Elevation Recruitment, said: "Between the years of 2008 to 2009, the recruitment market had a very bleak outlook, resulting in countless numbers of companies tightening their belts, which unfortunately led to redundancies.

"Accountancy is now a particular area where there is now high demand for applicants with many firms hiring partly qualified and newly qualified candidates, to re-staff their workforce and deal with the increase in business.

"Our clients, both in accountancy and financial services, are very optimistic about the future of their sectors, which will reflect the increase in job opportunities."

Another sector for Elevation which has witnessed an increase in recruitment is the practice market, dealing with audit, tax and corporate finance. The sector is witnessing growth in opportunities aimed at senior level.

Matt, added: "Elevation is starting to see more opportunities this year more than what we have seen over the past 18 months."

Job opportunities within sales also continue to grow, creating a highly competitive market. Elevation Recruitment has witnessed a staggering rise in applicants, which is set to carry for the foreseeable future.

Matt, said: "This isn't to say that quantity has taken over the quality of applicants. There has been no skill shortage, and with businesses re-gaining their confidence, the recruitment market will hopefully continue to reflect this positive outlook."

Figures released this week showed that the number of people unemployed in the UK fell by 49,000 to 2.46 million in the three months to June, with the decline in the jobless total being the biggest drop in three years

The number of people employed increased by 184,000, the largest quarterly rise since 1989, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Figures on the number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) were also released. The number of claimants in Rotherham at end of July was 7,298 and has dropped from the high of 9,102 in January 2010. These figures have fallen in five of the first seven months of 2010.

The increase in the number of JSA claimants over the last two years in Rotherham has been above both national and regional rates of increase but encouragingly recent falls have also been faster than average.
