Because we sit so closely to our markets, we are engaging with individuals well before they are actively considering a move, allowing us to support immediate leadership needs while also advising on longer term succession as organisations scale and evolve."

News: Elevation give jobseekers a lift with charity drive

By

Following the creation of a new CSR policy, Elevation Recruitment Group recently held a workwear clothing drive on behalf of The Suit Works charity, at their Rotherham office.

The Suit Works are an independent charity based in Sheffield that provide jobseekers with styling session and interview appropriate clothing, a capsule wardrobe for the first month of their employment and interview preparation with informal tips, skills, and training, covering aspects such as body language, grooming and dealing with nerves.

Throughout August and into September, the team reached out to candidates, clients, friends and family to ask for smart clothing and accessory donations.

The clothing drive was an opportunity to collect as many workwear items as possible to support The Suit Works in their aim to help unemployed people of all ages, who want to work, but do not have the funds or means to purchase appropriate clothing for interviews.

For many, including their own employees, working from home has meant casual clothing has become the every-day workwear, and as a result, have been left with a wardrobe of unused clothing, shoes and bags, that have now been donated towards a selfless cause.

They have collected over 300 items of male and female donations, including suits, coats, shirts, trousers, dresses, skirts, ties, shoes, and handbags.

Faye Mellors, project lead at The Suit Works said: “Since Covid, we have struggled for donations, so we are so grateful that we have received so many good quality items that will last the test of time. I can guarantee that every single piece will be used to help our clients dress the part.

"Working with Elevation has been a dream and great fun, we have had constant communication throughout, and we have really appreciated the brand awareness on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.”

Sarah-Lee Neesam, Business Services Director at Elevation, added: "We are delighted that we could help The Suit Works in this donation drive. We received an incredible amount of donations, and we would like to thank everyone who has donated, whether it has been big or small, it has made a huge impact to the charity. And I would personally like to thank the team at Close Brothers in particular, who have donated an astonishing amount.”

Elevation’s new CSR policy has one aim in mind, to support local charities and offer employees the chance to give back to our community, in what has been a challenging time for many during the pandemic.

News: Elevation raises employability factor

By

Elevation Recruitment Group gave GCSE students in Rotherham the opportunity to increase their "employability factor" with a workshop of top tips for interview and recruiter insight.

Formerly part of the Horbury Group, Elevation has grown to become the largest independent recruitment partner in Yorkshire. Based at offices in Moorgate, Rotherham, the company was acquired by newly formed parent company Elevation Recruitment Group following a six-figure management buyout in 2014.

Senior consultant at Elevation Recruitment Group, Mark Reed (pictured), visited the Wickersley School and Sports College recently to host a workshop on how to impress when applying for jobs to the year 10 students.

The popular event was attended by more than 300 students who were all interested to understand a little more about what an employer is looking for in a candidate during the application and interview process.

Joanne Ward, careers & literacy intervention manager at Wickersley School and Sports College said: "The students shared really good feedback on the day and it was useful to have someone in the industry explain in simple terms what employment is all about and how to make the most of your skills."

During his visit Mark discussed with the students what employees are looking for in terms of desirable skills, the knack to CV writing and how best apply their skills when in an interview.

Mark said: "It was great to talk to have the opportunity to support students who could soon be facing the often daunting task of getting a job; offering some practical insight into what an employer might be looking for and how to impress.

"As a recruitment consultant at Elevation I see dozens of CVs every single day, and some really do stand out from the crowd. How a person presents themselves and the information they include on their resume can really make a difference to their job prospects; something we work with each and every candidate to achieve."

The initiative forms part of Elevation Recruitment Group's continued commitment to supporting young people with their career ambitions across the region. Earlier this year the company sponsored the ImechE awards in which young engineers are given the opportunity to speak about a subject in engineering they are passionate about. It encourages young engineers to hone their communication skills as well as celebrating their role in the sector.

Joanne Ward from Wickersley School added: "It is crucial for our students to understand the reality of employment as it acts as a motivator and helps them decide what their next steps for a career might be, visits like these are highly encouraged as it often helps to provide students with an idea of the bigger picture."

News: Young engineers Speak Out for Engineering

By

Rotherham recruitment specialists Elevation Recruitment, has helped young engineers to prove that they can communicate effectively and "Speak Out For Engineering."

An annual showdown, organised by volunteers from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), is being sponsored by Elevation. The event sees some of the region's most promising young engineers take part in the IMechE's "Speak Out For Engineering" (SOFE) competition - giving young engineers the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their skills in presentation and public speaking.

The regional competition concluded with an awards ceremony at Sheffield's Cutlers' Hall earlier this month, with mechanical engineer William Holloway taking the prestigious accolade following a talk on innovation in industrial wastewater.

At the black-tie event, William received The Philip Hilton Trophy and £300 prize money, after his talk on the design of hydroelectric generators for use in industrial wastewater. The trophy is named in memory of Philip Hilton, as IMechE wants him to be remembered for his great deeds in promoting engineering.

IMechE is an independent engineering society working to raise the profile of mechanical engineering.

The competitors conducted a presentation on a subject relating to mechanical engineering which was followed by questions and discussion from the panel of judge - which includes Elevation Recruitment's John Bohan.

John Bohan, senior director at Elevation (pictured, left), said: "It's great to be involved with competitions that challenge the future leaders of the industry and celebrate successes.

"Elevation are proud to support this event as it not only allows young engineers to test their skills and gain confidence for their future roles but also provides a platform for the industry to showcase talent."

Started as part of the Horbury Group, Elevation was founded in 2010 and has expanded quickly. It now has an annual turnover of c£4m, and employs more than 45 consultants recruiting across eight specialist divisions.

Last year, a six figure deal saw the business acquired by a newly formed parent company, Elevation Consultancy Group, headed up by group managing director and Elevation founder Greg Parkinson and supported by fellow board director, Lee Bhandal.

On the day of the event, IMechE president, group captain Mark Hunt OBE BEng (Hons) MA MBA FCMI CEng FIMechE RAF, gave a presidential address at award-winning Rotherham manufacturer, AESSEAL. He said: "Engineering has never been so exciting nor so rewarding, a reality we are harnessing to inspire the next generation.

"Like the Institution, I am passionate about exposing issues, engaging in the debate, voicing credible opinions, answering difficult questions and taking engineering to society, thereby influencing humanity. In this vein, fellow engineers have the chance to lead the way and engineer our own future."

News: Elevation helps to lift the profile of engineers

By

Rotherham recruitment specialists Elevation Recruitment, is again helping young engineers to prove that they can communicate effectively and "Speak Out For Engineering."

With backing from Elevation, 2014 saw the revival in Yorkshire of the SOFE competition which was originally established in 1964 to challenge young engineers to prove that they could communicate effectively, which is still an important area for today's developing engineers.

IMechE is an independent engineering society working to raise the profile of mechanical engineering.

Elevation Recruitment, which recruits across a number of specialist areas including manufacturing and engineering and works with local firms including Greencore and Smith & Nephew, said the sponsorship was in line with their commitment to supporting the future generation of engineers.

Following a close competition, Linda Paine, a MEng Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Hull, was announced the winner, followed by runner up Adnan Fazal.

John Bohan, head of the Manufacturing and Engineering Division at Elevation said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for young members of the manufacturing community to demonstrate their passion for the work they do, and to present to some of the region’s leading industry professionals.

"We are proud to have the opportunity to continue to support this initiative, and we continue to be impressed by the calibre of the entrants who put themselves forward to take part."

Winners from each area will take part in the Regional final, due to take place in early 2015, and the winners will be announced at the Yorkshire Regional Annual Dinner, at the Cutlers Hall in Sheffield on the March 13.

News: MBO at Elevation Recruitment

By

HSBC has backed two directors in a buyout at Elevation Recruitment, the growing specialist recruitment firm established by Rotherham's Horbury Group.

The six figure deal sees the business acquired by a newly formed parent company Elevation Consultancy Group, headed up by group managing director and Elevation founder Greg Parkinson and supported by fellow board director, Lee Bhandal.

Formerly part of the Horbury Group and delivering recruitment support to businesses across Yorkshire, Elevation grew despite being founded during the recession. It now has an annual turnover of c£4m, and employs more than 45 consultants recruiting across eight specialist divisions. Founded in 2010, Elevation doubled its office space at South Grove House in Rotherham in 2012 to cater for its rapidly expanding team. A new state of the art office at No1 Leeds in Leeds city centre opened in 2013.

Rotherham construction specialist, The Horbury Group combines a number of subsidiaries that specialise in areas including joinery, ceilings, dry lining and health and safety training. Formed in Sheffield in 1993 as Horbury Building Systems, it has gone from strength-to-strength over recent years, increasing its turnover from £1.4m in its first year to over £50m today.

The MBO of Elevation was backed by HSBC and follows on from Horbury securing a £6m funding package from the bank in June to support growth and help the company bid for larger contracts.

As part of the newly formed board of directors, Phil Hill has been appointed as non-executive director and will join Greg Parkinson and Lee Bhandal on the group board. The new company has also launched a new business venture called Parkinson Lee Executive Search to work with top firms to identify and retain the emerging business leaders of the future.

Greg Parkinson, group managing director at Elevation Consultancy Group (pictured, right), said the move marked the start of an exciting period of growth for the business: "Lee and I are proud to say that the business has grown rapidly since it was established in 2010, and it is right that we now look to further expand the breadth and depth of services that we offer our current and future client base.

"HSBC have not only supported Elevation in the completion of the MBO but has also shown real intent and belief in our business and the services we provide by providing an excellent platform for future investment if/when we require it. HSBC have also backed our plans to launch a new business venture, Parkinson Lee Executive Search, that Lee and I feel will offer the Yorkshire business community a new and fresh approach to executive search appointments."

Chris Alsop, senior commercial manager at HSBC, added: "We were pleased to back this deal given the management team's experience, expertise and desire to grow the business. There are some exciting times ahead for Greg and his team and HSBC is keen to support the company's growth."

News: Elevation finding success as manufacturing sector recovers

By

Rotherham-based recruitment firm Elevation, has seen a 40% increase in placed candidates across manufacturing compared to the same period last year.

Part of the Horbury Group, Elevation was founded in 2010 and doubled its South Grove House office space in 2012 to cater for its rapidly expanding team.

The specialist manufacturing and engineering division has continue to grow, and as well as the upsurge in placed candidates, it has also helped 72% of manufacturing experts to secure appointments into senior roles at SMEs, with 28% choosing larger organisations with a Yorkshire base.

Elevation's manufacturing and engineering team published its findings to coincide with the recent Global Manufacturing Festival. It also found that opportunity, diversity and prospects are the top priority for experienced manufacturing candidates searching for a new job. The opportunities within the role itself tops the wish list, followed closely by the reputation of the business and product, and the salary on offer.

John Bohan, director of Elevation Recruitment who heads up the now seven-strong team in the engineering and manufacturing division, said: "There is no doubt that the manufacturing industry has really started to recover, with companies increasingly looking to recruit for newly created roles, and existing job roles opening up as a result. Businesses are growing, and so demand for quality candidates is growing too.

"Now, experienced manufacturing experts are in a position to consider every aspect of a job – and as we have found opportunities within a role top the list of priorities."

Bohan went on to explain that with some of the industry's leading institutions based in Yorkshire and utilising smaller, local businesses to deliver at various stages of the supply chain, it is the ideal time for SMEs to recruit.

He said: "The popularity of this year's Global Manufacturing Festival – with speakers including Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover - is indicative of the opportunity for SMEs right here in Yorkshire to compete on an international scale; and with so many quality candidates looking to develop their careers it is the ideal time for businesses to show what they have to offer in order to recruit an experienced team that will help drive growth."

News: HR Forum in Rotherham

By

The HR Forum established by Rotherham recruitment experts, Elevation, and international law firm, Irwin Mitchell, is holding its next event in Rotherham.

Business owners and HR directors from across the region are being invited to attend a complimentary breakfast seminar that will provide practical insight into the consequences of regulatory non-compliance.

The HR Forum was established last year to help human resources practitioners from around the region build a network for sharing knowledge and establishing relationships.

The next event is on April 29 at the New York Stadium in Rotherham at 8am and the complimentary breakfast seminar is entitled: "The real cost of Regulatory Non Compliance."

The costs of regulatory non-compliance can be severe both financially and reputationally for any business, large or small. The ability for a company to recover its costs, even when acquitted, in criminal proceedings, has now largely been abolished and so the focus must shift to ensuring it avoids, wherever possible, those costs in the first place.

Aimed at MD's, senior HR and senior finance professionals, this seminar will provide an update on the Bribery Act, its key provisions and what businesses need to do to ensure compliance. It will also look at the cost recovery scheme introduced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), provide an overview of the scheme and give some guidance as to what a business can and should do if they find themselves facing a potential invoice from the HSE.

Sarah Barron, associate director at Elevation, said: "Our advisers will also offer tips on dealing with the employment aspects of formal investigations, including when internal investigations and processes should begin, and dealing with investigations and disciplinary proceedings involving senior employees."

Emma Windle, a Sheffield-based lawyer in Irwin Mitchell's Regulatory and Criminal Investigations Group who will be speaking on the day, added: "Events like this give business owners and HR directors a great opportunity to learn about the key changes in legislation which affect them the most.

"We're delighted to once again partner with Elevation on this event and look forward to helping attendees get to grips with significant issues that they simply cannot afford to ignore."

News: Speaking out for engineering

By

Young engineers from across South Yorkshire will come together this Saturday to take part in a public speaking event, with the top two participants automatically entered to represent their local area at the regional final next week.

The annual showdown, organised by volunteers from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), has been sponsored this year by Rotherham recruitment experts Elevation. The event will see some of the region's most promising young engineers take part in the IMechE's "Speak Out For Engineering" (SOFE) competition - giving young engineers the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their skills in presentation and public speaking.

2014 has seen the revival in Yorkshire of the SOFE competition which was originally established in 1964 to challenge young engineers to prove that they could communicate effectively, which is still an important area for today's developing engineers.

Part of the Horbury Group, Elevation was founded in 2010 and has expanded quickly. The team placed more than 150 candidates into senior level engineering and manufacturing roles in 2013.

John Bohan, director at Elevation, will sit as one of the judging panel. John said: "The Yorkshire region is renowned for being at the forefront of engineering and manufacturing, both in terms of technology and development, and training and education.

"At Elevation we recruit for a number of highly specialised roles, and the calibre of candidates that we see is extremely high. The Speak Out For Engineering competition provides an excellent opportunity for young engineers to showcase and develop their communication skills, and to really stand out to potential employers.

"We know that, for employers, the importance of a candidate being able to demonstrate strong communication skills cannot be overstated. From making a good first impression at interview, to presenting ideas to a funding board, to representing your company at conferences – developing and refining these core skills is an absolute must.

"We are pleased to be able to support young people across the region through our involvement with SOFE, and very much look forward to hearing from the engineers of tomorrow."

The winner and runner up from each heat will speak at the Regional Final on Friday 14th March in Cutlers Hall, Sheffield, and will attend the Yorkshire Regional Dinner that evening where they will be presented with their award by the IMechE President, Patrick Kniveton.

Five new appointments have been made in Rotherham including Tom Jagger as senior consultant with three years specialist recruitment experience within the FMCG sector, Sarah Mounsey as senior consultant in the Sales & Marketing division with nine years experience in recruitment, Beth Rowland as recruitment secretary and both Amy D'Silva and Stefanie Walker as consultant both with extensive recruitment experience working across the South Yorkshire region.

In Leeds, Rob Simpson joins as senior consultant in Finance with 12 years Accountancy & Finance Recruitment experience, Scott Morton as consultant in the Sales & Marketing division with four years specialist recruitment experience, Catherine Pitman as recruitment secretary and David Russell as consultant with four years Human Resource Management experience.

Joint managing director Greg Parkinson believes that Elevation's latest expansion is further evidence of the regions above average employment growth and strong contribution to the UK's highest reported vacancy count in five years.

The most recent statistics from the Office of National Statistics revealed that there were 529,000 vacancies in the UK between April and June this year – the highest quarterly figure reported since September to November 2008.

Greg, said: "It is clear from the latest statistics that Yorkshire is performing extremely well when it comes to the employment landscape and we have seen first-hand that there has been a significant increase in roles across all of the sectors we work in.

"This increase in demand has seen us recently expand our HR, sales and marketing and senior finance divisions and we have also seen a significant increase in roles in the engineering and office support sectors.

"The recent growth is not restricted to a particular sector and is great news for Yorkshire. It suggests that businesses across the board are starting to feel more confident about their futures, and employees are increasingly confident about looking for that next step up the career ladder.

"As a firm the number of jobs we are being asked to recruit for continues to demonstrate an upward trend and we expect the region to continue outperforming the national averages when it comes to employment growth."

Elevation enjoyed a turnover of over £1.8m in 2012.

News: Elevation see rise in demand for engineers

By

Rotherham based specialists, Elevation Recruitment, has reported a substantial increase in demand from local businesses within the region hoping to take on a number of qualified engineering professionals this year.

In last month's Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) National Barometer, 31% of respondents said that they are looking to create new jobs with 58% reporting an increase in orders and 55% anticipating a further upturn between now and the end of the year.

John Bohan, Director of Engineering & Manufacturing recruitment at Elevation, said: "From an employment perspective, now is a very critical time for the economy.

"Over the past five years we’ve seen few engineering firms looking to take on new recruits, with many instead choosing to strip down their work force to the bare minimum in an effort to ride out the economic crisis.

"The change we are now seeing from within the industry is hopefully an indication of things to come, not only on a national level, but also for local independent firms here in South Yorkshire, which have been hit hardest by the recession in the past few years."

Part of the Horbury Group, Elevation was founded in 2010. They launched a specialist Engineering and Manufacturing Division in May this year, following positive signs of economic growth within the sector and the region's increased demand for operational and technical staff.

News: Elevation sees increase in demand for commercial finance roles

By

Rotherham-based Elevation Recruitment has seen a 40% rise in commercial accountancy roles over the past six months.

The Moorgate firm has seen a notable demand in the manufacturing industry in particular for this type of accountancy, indicating that more manufacturing companies within the area are hoping for further growth.

Andy Bath, business manager at Elevation Recruitment said: "During the height of the recession and over the last couple of years since, there has been a real lack of opportunity for newly qualified commercial accountants in the South Yorkshire. However, we have seen a renewed confidence in the job market for both candidates and employers in recent months, especially for newly qualified accountants or those who have qualified in the past few years.

"The manufacturing industry has shown the most obvious move to begin to upskill and strengthen their finance functions, with a particular focus on sourcing high calibre, commercially focused finance professionals.

"The shift to invest in additional resource; brought in to focus on driving the company forward through acquisition, business planning and commercial analysis is a refreshing change from the survival and down-sizing objectives they have been forced to work to over the last few years."

Part of the Horbury Group, Elevation was founded in 2010. They announced an impressive seven-figure turnover for 2011 and recently doubled its office space to cater for its rapidly expanding team.
