News: AMP Technology Centre website revamp

By

The highly successful AMP Technology Centre in Rotherham has a new look website to keep everyone up to date with the latest developments on site.

Providing incubation space on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), the centre has been designed to accommodate a range of manufacturing-related activities, from fledgling engineering and technology companies, to University spin-offs and subsidiaries of established companies.

Initially developed by Yorkshire Forward and opening in 2006, the AMP Technology Centre is now operated by Creative Space Management on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency. It provides a combination of first class office space, workshop facilities and conferencing and meeting room resources. Having extended into a second, £8.7m building, the reception and cafĂ© underwent a makeover last year.

Construction firm, Britcon are well underway on the third building on the site - a further 32,291 sq ft facility that will include five split level workshops with shared office space.

Occupancy is constantly close to 100% and expanding companies do not want to locate away as they collaborate with other companies on the AMP, but the next sized unit available on the park is 11,000 sq ft.

The £4m development is expected to be complete in September.

Also at the AMP Technology Centre, rapid electric vehicle charging points have recently been installed which complements the AMP's Hydrogen Mini Grid (HMG) facility which consists of a 225kW wind turbine and an ITM Power electrolyser and 220kg of hydrogen storage, enough to refuel 40 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Tenants, Aspire Creative, recently unveiled a new website for the AMP Technology Centre which took design inspiration from the building itself and aims to both showcase the excellent services within the Technology Centre itself and provide a hub of information for those interested in understanding the appeal of the world class facilities of the AMP.

Ian Powell, account director and project leader at Aspire Creative, said: "This bespoke, mobile and tablet responsive site has been built with the visitor experience at the heart of its conception and design.

"Every aspect of its construction from the navigation to the layout and  functionality was planned to ensure potential customers and stakeholders could quickly and intuitively identify the information they needed. From the Google mapped meeting room interior tours to the resident Vox Pops Case study videos,  we wanted to reflect the strong sense of innovation and community spirit found here at the Centre.

"We were particularly fortunate to be blessed with our client, Creative Space Management, who provided a clear vision as to what a successful site would deliver and communicated it to us clearly."

Companies hoping to expand or move to the AMP are involved in a wide range of advanced manufacturing areas including carbon capture technology development, navigation systems for use underwater to aid divers, sports design and manufacture, medical device development, server cooling systems, specialised seals and composite hi-fi speakers.
