News: Rotherham country park aims to become Olympic base
Rother Valley Country Park in Rotherham will feature in the London Organising Committee Pre-Games Training Camp Guide. A number of South Yorkshire sites will feature in the guide aiming to attract athletes to the region in the build up to the 2012 Olympics. Rotherham Council's Director of Culture and Leisure, Phil Rogers welcomed the announcement: "This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of sport and active lifestyles throughout the borough as well as highlight the wonderful facilities available at Rother Valley Country Park. We are pleased to be playing our part in supporting this region's overall plan for supporting critical activities, events and actions building up to 2012." The park is adjacent to the location of the massive YES! Project development.
