News: Solid results for Greencore

Irish food manufacturer, Greencore has published their latest financial results and reported that they have delivered a solid overall performance in a testing environment. The company delivered interim pre-tax profits of 32.2m euros, a slight rise on the 31.3m euros recorded in the same period last year. Chief executive Patrick Coveney stated that: "The bedrock of our business is the quality of our manufacturing facilities. The group has 300m euros invested in state-of-the-art production competence and equipment. In an era of ever-increasing focus on efficiency and costs our facilities are a source of competitive advantage to us." Greencore employ around 3,000 people in Yorkshire and Greencore Prepared Foods at Waleswood in Rotherham prepares quiches, tarts and Weight Watchers Foods. Greencore recently annouced that they have worked with The Junction in Rotherham to offer workplaces utilising the 15 day work trial option, as part of a local employer partnership authorised by Job Centre Plus.
