News: Rotherham's Horbury aims high

By

Rotherham-based construction firm, The Horbury Group has been awarded three contracts worth over £5m to work on transformational projects in Sheffield and Liverpool city centres. In Sheffield, Horbury Building Systems (HBS) will be working on the City Lofts development in St Paul's Place that includes a 32 storey complex set to be Sheffield's tallest building. HBS will complete steel frame systems, partitions, drylining and suspended ceilings in a deal worth £2.5m from Shepherd Construction. MWS Joinery, another company of the Horbury Group, will also be working on site in a separate £980,000 deal. HBS has been awarded a contract by Kier Build to help complete the £40m Hilton Hotel development in Liverpool's Albert Dock. Worth £2.3m to HBS, they will carry out the partitions, plastering, drylining and suspended ceilings and be onsite until June 2009. David Priestley, business development manager for the Horbury Group, said: "These developments are part of the massive regeneration currently taking place in both city centres so we are delighted to be involved. The contract wins are a reflection of Horbury's recent growth and of the recognition we are gaining within the construction industry."
