News: Corus continues to be one of the top employers for graduates

Steel producer, Corus is featured in The Times' Top 100 Graduate Employers for the opportunities of work experience and graduate placements it offers. The company, one of the biggest employers in Rotherham, has about 100 industrial placements lasting up to 12 months and recruits about 140 graduates annually. Recruits can work in a number of areas including manufacturing, engineering, research & development, finance, purchasing and human resources. Rotherham hosts 2 business units - Corus Research, Development and Technology, based at Swinden Technology Centre, and Corus Engineering Steels, based at Aldwarke. Example projects for graduate placements include working to achieve a higher performance of a high strength steel for the Airbus A380, the development of high strength bridge wire and working on the ULCOS (Ultra Low CO2 Steelmaking Programme) project. Tata Steel including Corus has 84,000 employees across five continents and a crude steel production capacity of 27 million tonnes in 2007.
