News: Edexcel give top marks to Rotherham
The Yorkshire Business Insider report that exam body Edexcel has bought Rion House, its second industrial warehouse on Hellaby Industrial Estate in Rotherham. The Hellaby site is home to Edexcel's secure processing centre which processes digitised exam papers that have been marked online. A summer of exams sees the centre proccess three million scripts - 30 million sheets of paper. "We receive more than 400,000 scripts in a single key day of exams," says Operations Manager David Hansell. The state of the art facility employs up to 550 staff at peak times. Edexcel has taken the 33,000 sq ft unit for 12 years, at a rent equivalent to £4.15 per sq ft, with advice from DTZ.Edexcel website
