News: Rotherham Council given Dormer preview

By

Officials from Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) have been given a brief glimpse of the new multi-million pound Dormer Tools site on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham. Cllr Gerald Smith, Cabinet Member for regeneration and development services at RMBC and Karl Battersby, RMBC strategic director for environment and development services, were provided with a unique tour around the 20,000 sq ft facility. John O'Donoghue, General Manager of Dormer Tools UK, said: "This is an exciting development, not just for the company but for the local area as well. "We wanted to invite Cllr Smith and Mr Battersby to the site to show them the progress of the build and highlight what our plans are for the new facility. "The new building will offer a great opportunity for organisations from South Yorkshire and around the world to see at first hand the creation of new and innovative cutting tools. Also, it will allow Dormer to bring businesses to the region and enable them to take advantage of the expertise in this area." Cllr Gerald Smith said: "It's exciting to see a world-player such as this bringing its quality engineering into Rotherham. It's exactly the type of high-quality company we want to see on the Advanced Manufacturing Park and across South Yorkshire generally. Dormer's reputation and presence will be a significant boost to the local and regional economy."
