News: Joy for Martek as design makes awards final

By

Martek’s student product developer Joy Brahma was recognised last week for the fantastic work he has delivered during his eight week tenure with the Rotherham company. Joy has been solely responsible for the design of an exciting and groundbreaking addition to the Martek product range, which is anticipated to be a huge success but will be kept under wraps until its official launch. In light of this, the organisers of his placement, Shell Step, nominated Joy for a place in the regional final for the North at the Shell Step Awards 2008. At the awards, Martek’s managing director Paul Luen commented on Joy’s contribution to the business over the last eight weeks: "Joy has been an outstanding addition to the Martek Team. He’s worked fantastically well on his own initiative with minimal supervision and has developed some exciting new technology for us. I’m absolutely delighted with his performance on the project and look forward to working with him on future projects." Joy now returns to the final year of his Electrical Engineering (MEng) degree at the University of Sheffield, however, it is hoped that he will continue to assist Martek with a number of projects in the future.
