News: Ministerial visit to the AMP

By

John Hutton MP, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform visited the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham last week as part of a visit to look at the importance of manufacturing to the South Yorkshire area. The AMP was highlighted as an exemplar of a world-class manufacturing technology park in the Government’s new framework for UK manufacturers, released earlier this month, and the Secretary of State was keen to see some of the excellent research and development work undertaken there. Mr Hutton was given a tour of the new Rolls Royce Factory of the Future, and learnt about the new ground-breaking technologies and manufacturing techniques being developed there by the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing (AMRC). He then visited the Innovation Technology Centre on the AMP, where he met ITI Energy and LIFE IC, two of the innovative, growing companies in the ITC, before having an informal round-table discussion over lunch with representatives from some of the region’s top manufacturers and key manufacturing support agencies.
