News: Newburgh works together
Newburgh Engineering recently hosted a shop floor improvement workshop at their Rotherham headquarters to help local businesses within the manufacturing sector increase their operational efficiency.
Through the Work Together Programme set up by Director-Resource consultants, several companies came to Newburgh to learn about best practice in a "5S" shop floor improvement activities and lean manufacturing techniques.
Roger Pearson, development manager at Newburgh said: "Here at Newburgh we have developed a robust improvement process that incorporates shop floor organisation and tidiness. It's great to be able to share that process with others and I hope it benefits their businesses."
Newburgh utilises manufacturing cells, dedicated groups of resources operated by a team of multi-skilled individuals that are committed to producing a product or products for one customer.
Delegates were shown the Vetco Nailsea manufacturing cell, bespoke gear cutting area and the rapid response fitting area.
