News: Dormer asks UK engineering firms to rise to the challenge


Engineering firms across the country are being invited to put Dormer Tools to the test, after the company helped UK businesses to save more than £170,000 worth of time and money in less than six months.

Dormer's "Value Challenge" aims to save engineering companies significant amounts of money and time by offering them more cost-effective tools and machining solutions.

The challenge has already saved a total of £174,622 and has been rolled out by Dormer's global partners in Europe and America.

Matt Johnson, applications engineer at Dormer Tools, said: "The idea behind the value challenge is to provide our customers with considerable savings – both financially and in terms of hours spent working.

"Dormer's significant investment in R&D means that our cutting tools are designed to last longer and work more efficiently so that in the long run they will provide the customer with a more viable engineering solution that gives value for money.

"We're hugely confident that we can beat the cost-efficiency, time or productivity of any of our competitor's products and we encourage companies across the UK to come forward and put us to the test!"

By conducting a machining audit for their customers, Dormer can compare the productivity, time and cost of a competitor's product and work out how much more efficient their tools have been for the company over a certain period of time.

Based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham, Dormer launches new products twice a year, with an average of 50 more new cutting tools added to the range in any given twelve-month period.

"To guarantee that we achieve this, all of our products are subjected to a rigorous process from beginning to end, ensuring that we carry out thorough market research before development begins.
