News: Rotherham Titans sign Willmott Dixon

By

Willmott Dixon is continuing to invest in Rotherham by sponsoring the Rotherham Titans and the Titans Community Foundation.

Willmott Dixon Partnerships is working with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to deliver a repairs service to 12,000 council-owned properties in the areas of Wentworth South, Wentworth Valley, Rother Valley West and Rother Valley South.

Mick Williamson, managing director at Willmott Dixon Partnerships said: "When we started our repairs service last October, we said we would actively invest in community growth through training, work experience and employment opportunities, plus helping local causes. So far, we have taken on six new apprentices, provided numerous work placements through our "Open Doors" initiative and our volunteers have delivered much needed projects at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, Wickersley Housing Trust and Herringthorpe Junior School.

"We want to use our role with the borough council to make a positive impact in the community and linking up with the Titans is absolutely the right fit. It enables us to support the Titans Community Foundation and initiatives like the "Tackling Programme" that works to improve the lives and prospects of young and disadvantaged people in Rotherham."

By backing the Titans over the forthcoming season, Willmott Dixon will play a key role on its "Tackling Programme" concerning anti-social behaviour, which will see engineers work with the Titans team in taking the important message of respect and considerate behaviour to parts of the community blighted by the anti-social actions of a few.

The company and the club are hopeful that the investment will fulfil the ambition of getting the team back into the top tier of English rugby again.

Mick continued: "Overall, we are impressed by the vision and ambition of the club alongside its strong community values. By sponsoring them, we are giving the team an even better chance of success and it will be fantastic for our team and the town to support them on their journey to the Premiership."

Nick Cragg, chair of Rotherham Rugby Club and the Titans Community Foundation added: "We are delighted Willmott Dixon has committed to support us. They are one of the Top 50 private companies in the UK and more importantly they share our values and our ambition. It will be fantastic to share a journey together."
