News: New manager for New York Stadium

By

Rotherham United have appointed a new stadium manager to look after the day-to-day operations at the New York Stadium.

Paul Davis, who was part of the stadium team at Sheffield Wednesday, will oversee the day-to-day running of the new £20m stadium which incorporates everything from stewarding games on a matchday, to catering for events throughout the week.

With the new purpose-built stadium due to be completed in July in order for the Millers to move in for the 2011/12 season, Paul is looking forward to working in the new iconic venue.

He said: "This is a very exciting time for all connected with Rotherham United and an excellent opportunity for me to put together a new stadium operations team that will oversee the 24/7 running of the stadium, as well as the matchday safety and security operations.

"The New York Stadium designs look fantastic and it will be a venue that Rotherham will be proud of."

Construction is well underway on the site of the former Guest and Chrimes foundry close to Rotherham town centre.

Paul added: "There will be a lot of hard work required over the first few months of 2012 to ensure that we obtain a Safety Certificate from the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

"I'm sure there will be some late nights and early mornings for myself and the team as the new season approaches but this is all part of the challenge."
