News: Gala Tent appoint apprentices with LifeSkills

By

Fast-growing Rotherham business, Gala Tent, has appointed a number of new apprentices with the support of learning provider, Lifeskills.

Gala Tent is the UK's largest supplier of marquees and gazebos, exporting across Europe and to the US. They moved into new 53,000 sq ft headquarters at Fairfield Park in Manvers last year.

Lifeskills specialises in providing opportunities for young people to break into the world of training and employment and was the only learning provider to feature in the list.

Rotherham born managing director, Spencer Fearn, has developed the company over the last eight years in London and the South East and opened a Rotherham training centre in the town centre in 2010.

In January, Gala Tent created five new positions within their sales and customer services departments where the apprentices began their six month Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeships.

Rebecca Humphries, Thomas King, Lewis Peirpoint, Amy Clerkson and Jennifer Roberts are picture above.

The course provides them with skills and qualifications in IT, customer relations and teamwork, as well as preparing them for work in a wide range of other businesses. The day release programme sees them work four days in the Gala Tent offices and a day at the Rotherham LifeSkills Centre.

The apprentices will then have the opportunity to stay on as a full time Gala Tent employee.

Two further apprentices, Paige Adamson and Leanne Mace (pictured, below) have recently joined as event specialists.

Jason Mace, managing director at Gala Tent, said: "The initial five apprentices have restored my faith in today's youth and the future of our economy as they have proven to be a very fast moving and diligent group of individuals. Employing more was simply a no brainer."
