News: Cert Octavian operations acquired by Culina

A 90,000 sq ft warehouse facility in Rotherham has been taken over as part of the deal that sees Culina Group Limited acquire the supply chain activities of Cert Octavian Holdings plc.

The acquisition extends the existing Culina network to eight distribution centres in the UK following the addition of the five facilities currently owned and operated by Cert Octavian. This includes the Rotherham facility and Culina will also take over the portfolio of existing Cert Octavian distribution contracts.

Culina and Cert Octavian have previously developed strong links through shared facilities at the Hellaby site in Rotherham and in the coming weeks Culina will finalise the details of the acquisition and commence the implementation of its expanded network.

Thomas van Mourik, ceo of the of Culina Group Limited, said: "We are acquiring some excellent contracts, facilities and people. This significantly expands our ambient network and will enable us to drive through synergies and efficiencies that will benefit all our existing customers and allow us to offer an even better service.

"This announcement is further evidence of our commitment to double the size of the business in the next five years. We will be looking for similar opportunities that will allow us to add value for food and drink customers through the innovation and competitive supply chain solutions that set us apart."

Culina is the leading provider of high quality logistics services for food and drink companies in the UK. Cert Octavian have been one of the largest drinks logistics companies within the UK. They will retain their fine wine cellarage business where strong economic growth in the Far East is resulting in significant growth.

With an operation at Hellaby, Cert Octavian took a extra 84,000 sq ft at Manvers in 2008. The Adwick Park unit has since been let to metals processing and supply firm, ABS.
