News: Teachers meet businesses to discuss STEM

By

Representatives from local businesses and local schools will meet up in Rotherham this week to explore how to inspire students with the potential of STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

It is one of a series of free regional events bringing teachers and businesses together organised by STEMNET, a government-funded organisation that creates opportunities to inspire young people.

The "putting the business into STEM education" event takes place at Wickersley School and Sports College on June 12.

It aims to discuss the use of real world experience and bringing practical experience and contemporary applications of STEM into school to engage students with the relevance of studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

STEM challenges will also be showcased that help secondary school students develop vital skills for future employment including communications, project management, team-working and problem-solving.
