News: Deal sealed for Envelopemaster

By

Envelopemaster, a Rotherham company that has risen from the ashes has been taken over by a rapidly expanding division of a German industrial group.

The manufacturers and suppliers of postage and packaging materials are based at Aldwarke and employ over 30 staff and have recently been acquired by Kettering packaging manufacturer VP Packaging.

As the UK division of German-HQ'd VP Group, VP Packaging has grown rapidly since it was established five years ago, making bubble-bag products for the UK and European marketplace.

VP said that the acquisition of a competitor strengthens their foothold in the market considerably.

Ib Schjotz-Pedersen, Director of VP Packaging, said: "The strong synergy between the two companies makes this acquisition a very good proposition for our customers. This will ensure the future growth for the company and securing a significant number of jobs both in Kettering and in Rotherham."

Simon Schulte-Rentrop, Head of Flexible Packaging Division at VP Group in Southern Germany, added: "This acquisition fits very well with our long term strategy for both VP Group and our UK plans. As one of the largest bubble bag producers in Europe this will further strengthen this position."

The corporate finance team at Roffe Swayne chartered accountants advised VP Packaging on the deal.

VP Group was founded in 1896 in Munich and now has 600 employees and a turnover of around €100m.

Specialising in producing bubble wrap and padded envelopes, Envelopemaster has fought its way back from a devastating fire at its Rotherham premises in 2012 caused a total loss of premises.
