News: TV talent shows hitting the right note with Rotherham business

By

Internext Music, based at The Point, on Bradmarsh Business Park in Rotherham has seen a stream of enquiries from would-be stars, keen to record a high-quality album to send to TV and radio producers in the hope of finding fame and fortune. Internext has one of the region’s most comprehensive recording studios and is a favourite with a number of professional musicians and bands. Director Yosef Sawicki admits he’s been surprised by the development. “We moved the company from Sheffield to Rotherham about 18 months ago because we wanted to expand and create a truly professional studio, with the very best equipment. We certainly never imagined that amateur singers and groups of friends would be booking in for a session." As a result he is now working in partnership with Rotherham Investment & Development (RiDO), the council’s regeneration arm, to look at how he can develop this side of the business and has already launched a Star Party Experience, which gives people the chance to perform and record their own CD in the studio. RiDO business adviser Martyn Benson said: “When I heard about the company I was keen to see what we could do to help it market itself better – not just in Yorkshire but much further afield. For the region’s musicians it’s particular good news as it means they don’t have to travel to London to find top-quality facilities."
