News: Rotherham's innovatively designed buildings the best in Yorkshire

By

Breathing Space in Rotherham has beaten off fierce competition from across Yorkshire and the Humber to be named ‘Project of the Year’, as well as scooping the coveted Design & Innovation award, in the 2008 RICS Pro Yorkshire Awards. Breathing Space was also shortlisted in the Community benefit and Sustainability categories. The development by Rotherham Construction Partnership with Rotherham PCT and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust is a respite centre for sufferers of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder. The scheme was built over a period of approximately 12 months and combines modern architectural design with sustainable construction features. Other RCP projects, the imaginatively designed extension to Wickersley Northfield School was nominated in the design and innovation category and the improvements to the events space at tourist destination, Magna were shortlisted in the commercial category.
