News: HSE and Rotherham council put local businesses on alert

For the first time Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are joining forces to visit dozens of businesses in the district in a hard-hitting new campaign aimed at making Rotherham a safer and healthier place in which to work. This week the inspection initiative that will cover a range of premises in some key industrial zones like Hellaby Business Park, Parkgate's Barbot Hall Industrial Estate and the North Anston trading estate at Dinnington. HSE Inspector Chris Chambers, said: "This is an important initiative which involves partners working together to really make a difference to a local area. Companies will be given all the support they need to turn their workplaces into safer, healthier working environments. "There is no doubt that the people best placed to make workplaces safer and more secure are the staff and managers who work in them. They do this best by working together which is why the HSE and Rotherham MBC's Health and Safety teams are driving this initiative forward, and giving the town's businesses the support, encouragement and help they need to improve their workplace environments."
