News: Martek Marine appoint new managing director

By

Leading Rotherham company, Martek Marine has announced the appointment of Ken Turnbull as new managing director.

The Manvers company is the world leader in safety and environmental monitoring equipment for commercial ships and Ken originally came into the company in a consultancy role but it quickly became clear that both parties shared the same drive and outlook.

An electronics engineer with a PhD in New Product Development, and a chartered engineer and a fellow of the IET, Ken worked for Parker Hannifin Domnick Hunter as engineering and marketing director for nine years and has extensive international experience including assignments in Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia.

Ken said: "I have always been passionate about innovation, technology and leading creative teams to grow a business. Martek is what it is all about - there are so many opportunities in this business and a 'buzz' that is a direct result of Paul Luen's entrepreneurial flair.

"I am delighted to be here and move the business forward with remarkable new products, service and unmatched customer care. Let's go!"

Previous MD, Paul Luen has now become the company's chief executive officer in a move that will allow the company to make even greater use of Paul's entrepreneurial skills to deliver new opportunities and focus on strategy.

Paul added: "Ken's appointment will prove to be a landmark event in the evolution of Martek from a good to a great company. I am thrilled to be working with Ken enabling me to concentrate my efforts on delivering new opportunities and leading the strategic direction of Martek."

As the firm continues to expand, Louise Kingett joined as sales co-ordinator last month.
