News: Colliers to study Rotherham retail and leisure
Rotherham Council has appointed Colliers International to undertake a borough-wide retail and leisure study of Rotherham.
Last year Colliers International, alongside The Retail Group, produced a retail and leisure study of Rotherham town centre. This new study will see the research extended across the rest of Rotherham.
Its findings will help in the preparation of Rotherham's Local Development Framework and assist in the planning and regeneration decision making.
The study will provide a comprehensive understanding of the key issues surrounding the retail and leisure provision within the borough and the need for additional development.
As work continues on the Local Development Framework, the study will assist in the production of a strategy and supporting policies for retail and leisure development across Rotherham.
Councillor Gerald Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Environment said: "As Rotherham changes over the next 15 years, we need to ensure that we can meet our shopping and leisure needs.
"This study will be vital in helping us understand how things might change and making sure that our planning decisions are based on the most up to date information possible."
This study will enable the Council to make informed decisions relating to the preparation of the Local Development Framework, as well as assisting in the assessment of future retail and leisure proposals.
