News: Good performance from Rotherham United

By

Rotherham United is guaranteed another year on year rise in commercial earnings.

This season's figures are already up on the total generated for the entire 2009/2010 season with four months of the current campaign still to run.

Corporate entertainment for the home game against Shrewsbury in February has sold out and the final game of the season against Torquay is already fully booked to cap a great start to 2011.

Steve Coakley, the club's commercial director said: "The figures for the first week in January already show we have increased our income from hospitality, advertising and sponsorship from what was generated during the entire 2009/2010 season.

"Encouragingly, we are able to look back at an identical situation that was achieved last year too, and so the consistent annual increases are something we are obviously delighted with."

The club are currently playing home games at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield as they press ahead with plans for a new 12,000-seater community stadium close to Rotherham town centre.

Coakley added: "Looking at the overall position, in all commercial areas of the club, and considering the economic climate that the vast majority of businesses are currently faced with, we are delighted with the direction we are heading.

"There aren't many clubs within the Football League that are able to report of such progress that has been, and is continuing to be, made."
