News: Rotherham's new Mayor visits the AMP
Rotherham's new Mayor, Councillor Shaun Wright and Mayoress Lisa Wright have visited the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).
It was one of the Cllr Wright's first official visits since he was installed as Mayor in May. As part of the visit the Mayor toured the facilities at Castings Technology International (Cti) and the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing.
The Mayor was able to see firsthand examples of the technology and expertise on the Park which helps secure the AMP's position as the UK's premier advanced manufacturing technology park, providing world-class manufacturing technology solutions for industry.
Highlights included seeing Cti's unique titanium melting capacity, the virtual reality suite at the AMRC, and the innovative MANTRA customised trailer which tours events and schools across the country, giving aspiring young engineers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.
Councillor Wright believes economic regeneration and education are the keys to prosperity in any area and is determined to promote both during his term of office. He plans to undertake a number of visits to Rotherham based businesses during his term of office.
