News: NAMTEC names new chief executive

The National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) in Rotherham has announced the appointment of Dr Alan McLelland as its new chief executive.

McLelland is to take the role following a successful one and a half years as operations director. He holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield and has previously held management positions at TRW Automotive and LuK.

Martin Havenhand, chairman of NAMTEC, said: "We are delighted to have been able to appoint Alan to his new role. The organisation has undergone a period of significant change over the past year and Alan's unique range of skills will ensure NAMTEC moves forward with confidence. He has proven leadership and organisational management qualities which will prove invaluable in the future."

Alan McLelland added: "I am really excited to take this new role at such an interesting and exciting time for the organisation and for the Metals industry."

Based at Swinden House, Moorgate, NAMTEC was established to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the metals and related engineering industries throughout the UK. They lead on delivering research and technology development, knowledge transfer, and training to companies in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

Dr Alan Partridge, outgoing CEO of NAMTEC is standing down year to join Rolls-Royce.
