News: R&D incentives for Rotherham businesses

By

Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO), the regeneration arm of the council, is hosting an employer event next month to help local businesses secure financial support for research and development.

The event at RiDO's Fusion @ Magna business centre in Templeborough on November 11 will focus on R&D Tax Credits and R&D Grants.

R&D Tax Credits offer relief in the form of tax credits for companies involved in research and development and are the biggest incentive provided by Government for investment in business R&D.

Firms can claim for past periods up to two years after the financial year end and the Chancellor increased this benefit for 2011 in the last budget and it will increase further in 2012.

R&D Grants give SMEs access to direct grant funding for projects from early stage feasibility studies to full development of pre production prototypes or production processes.

Run by the Technology Strategy Board, the scheme can provide £250,000 for a single project.

At the event, experts from Funding & Financials will explain the grant process in practical terms with top tips for success and Libcus Limited will demonstrate the possibilities for local businesses.

Places are free but limited to two employees per company, so it is advisable to book early. To book call Tracey on 01709 255 978 or email tracey.parker@rotherham.gov.uk

RIDO is a partner in the South Yorkshire Sector Growth Enhancement Programme that is part-financed by The European Regional Development Fund.
