News: Steelphalt appoints new manager

By

Rotherham road surface specialist, SteelPhalt, has appointed Andrew Needham as their new business manager.

The 40-year-old, who has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Mechanical Engineers, worked for Tata Steel for 16 years before moving to Harsco – SteelPhalt's umbrella company - as Asset Manager and then Business Manager.

He will now be looking at developing new business opportunities for SteelPhalt, both at its Templeborough headquarters, and at sites across the region.

Andrew said: "We are aiming to become the leading road surface supplier to both private and public sectors within a 70 mile radius.

"It's all about continuing the good working relationships we have and also about developing new ones."

SteelPhalt specialises in the conversion of steel slag into a surface course for road making.

They have been developing and manufacturing high performance asphalt products for the UK road making industry since the 1960s, sourcing slag cost-effectively from the surrounding steel industry and providing a sustainable way of making asphalt, with at least 95 per cent of the product the result of the recycling process.
